Continuing the “A Conversation with Diplomats” series within the Introduction to International Relations course (HASS1100), on March 24, students and faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) participated in a dialogue titled “ASEAN 2026 under the Chairmanship of the Philippines.”
The class was honored to welcome H.E. Francisco Noel R. Fernandez III – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippines to Vietnam. As the Philippines prepares to assume the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2026, Ambassador Fernandez shared perspectives on the bloc’s agenda and priorities, as well as approaches to regional challenges in an evolving global context.
Drawing on his extensive experience in diplomacy and international cooperation, Ambassador Fernandez also highlighted his priorities during his tenure in promoting the Philippines – Vietnam strategic partnership. His sharing offered students the opportunity to engage with diverse perspectives on regional cooperation and ASEAN’s role in the international system.
The dialogue enriched students’ academic learning by connecting theoretical knowledge with real-world contexts, while encouraging critical thinking and a broader understanding of regional and global issues.
The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) sincerely extends our appreciation to H.E. Francisco Noel R. Fernandez III for his valuable time and insights shared with the VinUni community.
Let’s look back at some memorable moments from this special class!
